While preparing to attempt his outrageous stunt, Harry talks to and saves the life of a suicidal man.
As part of his grand going-out prank, Harry prepares to hang-glide from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Statue of Liberty, when he gets side-tracked when he meets Gus Melman (Kenneth Tigar), a frustrated inventor, who's about to commit suicide by jumping. Back at the courthouse, Dan has to masquerade as Harry for his swearing-in ceremony.
While attempting to perform his silly "going-out-with-a-bang" publicity stunt prank on the Brooklyn Bridge, Harry (Harry Anderson) is confronted by a one Gus Melman (Kenneth Tigar), a frustrated inventor who intends to commit suicide, as he reveals to Harry that none of his "inventions" were ever successful, as Harry winds up serving as his "inspiration" as Melman tries, then succeeds in turn, pursuading Harry, who reveals his dilemma in not getting reinstated to the Manhattan Municipal Court, and his filing an appeal before going on with his "prank" plan, to "don't give up", as he then steals Harry's glider and his idea, as he performs Harry's hang gliding stunt himself! Meanwhile, a one Judge Crockett (Alan Oppenheimer), who's accquainted with Harry and the rest of the court staff, and a Gary Fenton (Richard Frank), an aide who works in the mayor's office, both arrive at the court to swear Harry in again and reinstate him as a Municipal Court judge, as the court staff tries to stall them until they can somehow manage to corral Harry and get him back to the courthouse and into the judge's chambers to do the swearing in.
The staff scrambles to try to keep the ploy to have the initial plan to have Dan Fielding pose as Harry, whom Fenton believes is Judge Stone, from Judge Crockett's knowledge until Harry arrives for the swear-in, as if it's revealed to Crockett as to where Harry is, and that Dan was trying to stand-in proxy for the absent Harry in masquerading as Stone, Dan could get in big trouble and lose his job as the Assistant D.A. for "impersonating a judge". Luckily, for Dan and the staff, and Harry, Crockett never finds out about their ruse plan as Dan, who was about to "spill the beans" and reveal why Harry wasn't present, and his posing as Harry, Harry's gavel, which he was holding at the time, accidently slips from his hand and knocks Fenton out cold, hitting him on the head, as he's rendered unconscisous and only comes to after Harry returns to his chambers, just in time for the "official" swearing in, as Crockett, who's eager to get the whole thing over with, as part of Harry's "oath", asks him "You plannig on shooting anyone?", as Harry replies "No!" as Crockett then responds, "Fine! you're a judge again! Good night!".
[Gary Fenton awakens after being knocked out. The first thing he sees is Bull's face, closely observing him]
- Bull: [creepy voice] We've been waiting for you, Mr. Fenton.
[Fenton cries out and faints. Bull looks up, puzzled]
- Bull: [normal voice] Boy, he looks like he just saw a ghost.
- Roz: Come back in here, Dan.
- Dan: No!
[Dan is shown hiding on the sill of the window outside Harry's office]
- Bull: Dan, are you going to make me do this the hard way?
- Dan: Yes!
- Bull: Gooooooood.
[seizes Dan by his belt and hauls him inside]
- Judge Crockett: Raise your right hand.
[Mac grabs Harry's right hand and holds it up; Christine grabs his left and slaps it down on the Bible]
- Judge Crockett: [raising his right hand] You planning to shoot anyone?
- Judge Stone: No...
- Judge Crockett: Fine, you're a judge again, good night!
