Night Court: Season 5

Season 5 of Night Court began with the episode "Her Honor: Part 2", which was the conclusion of a three-episode story which began towards the end of the previous season, aired on NBC-TV on September 17, 1987; the season's finale episode, "Danny Got His Gun: Part 1", which itself was part of a three-episode story cliffhanger arc which would spill over into the start of Season Six, aired on May 12, 1988 as a total of 22 episodes were aired in the season.

As season five starts, a distraught Judge Harry finalizes his plan to pull a crazy prank against the City of New York for — he thinks — not reappointing him to the bench. Can he be stopped in time and told he has his job back? Plus, Roz is diagnosed with diabetes and the group rallies to lift her spirits. Speaking of spirits, in a special Halloween episode, Harry is trapped in a safe and Dan tries to buy his soul back from the devil. Sounds pricey! Guest stars this season include Johnny Carson as Christine’s admirer; Don Cheadle appears as a teenager in need of support; Teri Hatcher as the buxom young niece of Dan’s boss; and Yakov Smirnoff, as Yakov Korolenko, who tries to get arrested in order to be deported back to Russia because his mother is ill. Plus, why is Mel Tormé (appearing as himself) in Harry’s courtroom?
